I am a qualified clinical psychologist, with a Doctor of Psychology degree (PsyD) from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in the United States. I use an integrative approach to psychotherapy with an emphasis on the client-therapist relationship. While I rely on grounded theory and techniques, I try to create an individualized therapy for each client that addresses his or her needs. I often incorporate EMDR, an internationally recognised and empirically supported approach, to strengthen coping resources and process through issues. I work with babies who’ve experienced trauma as well as tweens, adolescents, adults, and couples.
My Experience
I have worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, therapeutic day schools, and hospitals. Currently, I work in private practice and my areas of interest include grief, loss, and trauma; pain, anxiety, couples’ therapy and post-natal depression. I use EMDR to treat trauma as well as other issues including anxiety, grief, infertility, and pain. EMDR is a focused treatment that allows one’s brain to process and heal in a non-invasive but powerful manner.
With couples, I utilize the work of Hedy Schleiffer, an American therapist who has developed an experiential therapy called Encounter-Centered Couple’s therapy. This approach teaches the couple a new way of connecting and interacting which allows them to enter the world of the other and develop skills that will promote their relationship in a healthy manner.
